  1. Choose a starting line close enough to clear the net under control.
  2. Use the same preparation and direct a standing serve into the target lane.
  3. Wait until B retrieves safely, then repeat and record the landing.

Before you start

A demonstrated standing serve; a clear receiving lane.

2–4 players per station. With four, the player without a ball observes one cue or rehearses footwork in clear space; rotate every five attempts. For 12 players: three groups of four, provided lanes remain separated.

Starting dose

2 rounds of 10 serves; swap roles every 5.

This volume is a teaching starting point, not an individual prescription.

Observe & correct

Cue: Control the starting position and contact before adding distance.

Error → correction: Too much force with poor direction: start closer and shorten the motion.

Observable outcome: Record target-zone landings out of 10 serves.

Adapt to the group

Easier: Use a comfortable underhand serve shown by the coach.

Harder: Move back one small step after repeated controlled success.

Alternative setup: Without a net, rehearse a gentle send to a floor target; do not count it as an over-net serve.
