COACH EXECUTION CARD

Jump conditioning

Equipment shown or used: Clear landing zone

Age: All ages from U13 (U13: youth dose, 2 sets max)

Exercise setup and mechanics:

Alternate short efforts and full recoveries; ensure quiet and controlled landings.

Conditioning relevance to volleyball:

Supporting general physical capacity relevant to volleyball. Coaching, dosage and exercise selection must be individualized.

Physical conditioning supports an athlete’s capacity. It is not a disguised serve receive, attack, defense or blocking skill.

TRAINING PROGRESSION · 3 LEVELS

Progressive practice without inflating exercise numbers

Move up only when execution meets the quality checks. Real readiness and technique matter more than a nominal age category.

01 · Technique foundation

Learn movement control

Suggested starting dose

2 sets × 4 controlled takeoffs with full technique resets

Rest

60–90 seconds or until ready

Coaching cue

Alternate short efforts and full recoveries; ensure quiet and controlled landings.

Quality gate

Quiet, balanced and safe landings on every repetition.

02 · Strength / capacity development

Build repeatable capacity

Suggested starting dose

3 sets × 4–5 crisp jumps, no loss of landing control

Rest

90–150 seconds between sets

Coaching cue

Alternate short efforts and full recoveries; ensure quiet and controlled landings.

Quality gate

Quiet, balanced and safe landings on every repetition.

03 · Sport-specific workload

Apply controlled sport intensity

Suggested starting dose

3–4 sets × 3–5 high-quality jumps, not to fatigue

Rest

2–3 minutes between sets

Coaching cue

Alternate short efforts and full recoveries; ensure quiet and controlled landings.

Quality gate

Quiet, balanced and safe landings on every repetition.

SAFETY & INDIVIDUALIZATION

Quality first, not maximum load

Check fatigue, landing height and previous jump load. Avoid maximal jumping if technique deteriorates; always use a safe clear landing zone.

Count these contacts in the weekly jump load: do not add them to an already high-volume volleyball jumping session without planned recovery.

Doses are coaching examples, not individual prescriptions. Adapt for readiness, fatigue, injuries and any relevant medical advice.
