Practical on-court execution
Starting coaching cues to adapt for player level, squad size and readiness.
Technical / tactical target
Build the first defensive step before a pass or block movement.
Court and equipment
Mark zones 1, 6 and 5 or a short lateral lane.
Position lights as readable cues; never force a collision-prone sprint.
Progressive steps
- Start balanced in defensive base, eyes forward.
- Read a partner cue and shuffle one or two steps without crossing.
- Stop on the outside foot, face the ball and build the passing platform.
Reacting to an auditory whistle trigger

No separately verified photograph exists for this constraint. See the parent setup reference image.
